Emerging from the foggy landscapes of the San Francisco Bay Area coast, Noctortoise is the electronic music project of Pelham Houchin III. Noctortoise explores how a mind that is focused on nature yearns for change while it navigates around a world that is a relentless maze of darkness and loss.

Inspired by music artists such as Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode, Pelham has teamed up with producers Jacen Touchstone and Sebastian Komor (Xenomorph Productions) for these first two releases.

With ear-catching synth lines, pulsing dark rhythms, and '80s/'90s dream-synth-goth vibes, the sound embraces the beauty found in sadness even on the dreariest of days. Pelham’s moody vocals emphasize that everyone has a personal battle that they are fighting and invites you to move along with the rhythm and regain control. “It’s like a dark Pet Shop Boys!” as one listener exclaimed.

As a visual artist for many years whose medium has been oils and acrylics, Pelham took to audio as a natural progression and exploration of the surreal landscapes he would see in his head that would turn into a work of art. “I would burrow inside for days and experiment with sounds. How could I turn this feeling in my head into sounds that exist in a world that I have created? I was getting the same creative satisfaction as I would when I would paint on canvas, only this time it was a thrilling new medium for me to express myself.”

Founded in 2015, Noctortoise has now embarked on their music journey in 2023 with their debut single “Devotion Is Dead”. Noctortoise is geared up for their upcoming release "Exquisite High".
